Passionate Employees are Amazing…

They show their connection, dedication, and commitment to the organization’s mission and vision and specific work they are doing. They LOVE what they do.

However, allowing passionate employees to work long hours is ultimately detrimental on those employees and others, creating a culture toxicity and “role model” example that everyone else should do the same, especially if that passionate employee is recognized often and paid more.

The organization is setting themselves up for backfire. Passionate, hardworking, dedicated employees eventually burn out, and their passion turns to resentment and their health is negatively affected.

There is great opportunity for organizations to recognize this phenomenon and have meaningful discussions with their employees about the downside effects, and also incorporate various learning and development opportunities to address time management, work/life harmony, leadership, etc.

I believe this is also where Coaching can be effective and help individuals and the organization survive.
